OK, so let me say that this drone does fly pretty well, for the most part. I’m not displeased with it. The issue I am having is that this drone seems to be a bit different from an Eachine E58. I’ve had two of them, so I know exactly how they look and fly.
The first thing is with the transmitter. The look and feel are similar but the buttons are not in the same place. That’s not a big deal as it still has the same features as an E58. It arrived packed in the black carrying case and not an Eachine box, which I thought was a little weird. Also, it included Amazon rechargeable batteries, but two of them were the same and the third was a different type. That’s kind of strange for a new, unpacked drone. However, the drone looked new and showed no evidence that it may have been used at some point.
The body of the drone has slight differences as well. For instance, the front landing gear was snapped in, and not part of the propeller arm like the E58. They popped out on relatively soft landings, and I lost one and could not find it. This is nothing some glue won’t fix, but I’m worried the quality of the rest of the drone may not be up to par. It actually turned out to be a good thing because I realized that removing them lightened up the drone a little bit and made it a tad easier to handle and hold altitude. The downside is that I have to be careful landing it and try to always land it softly in the grass.
Now to the flight test… The drone is not quite as fast as an E58. In fact, at low speed, the drone fights to move forward, even in very low wind. You need to set it to rate 3 if you want to achieve any speed at all. It’s also a little tough to get it to maintain altitude. It pitches forward quite a bit and that causes it to lose altitude, so you need to be careful and make sure you have enough height at all times. Also, I removed the prop safety guards and landing pegs/poles in order to shave off some weight and make the drone lighter.
Overall it still is not a bad drone for $50, but I think it’s a knockoff of the E58, which is a knockoff of the DJI Mavic Pro. So, it’s a knockoff of a knockoff! I’m not unhappy with it, but I would have liked to get the E58 in an Eachine box so I would have known exactly what I received.
